Waiter/Waitress at Restaurant Associates
Restaurant Associates is seeking a dedicated Waiter/Waitress to join our team, providing exceptional dining experiences at prestigious venues like the Morgan Library in New York City. This role involves promptly greeting guests, efficiently taking and delivering food and beverage orders, and ensuring high standards of service and sanitation. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to creating memorable experiences for our guests.
Location & Schedule
- Location: Morgan Library - 225 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10016 (Online applications only)
- Schedule: Full-time positions available. 5 days weekly, requiring weekends and daytime availability. Further details will be provided during the interview process.
Compensation & Requirements
- Fixed Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour.
- Requirement: At least 4 years of NYC experience is required for this position.

Job Summary
The Waiter/Waitress efficiently takes food and beverage orders and delivers items to dining room guests, ensuring a professional and pleasant experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room, taking food and beverage orders efficiently while following established steps of service.
- Deliver food promptly and professionally, adhering to safe food handling and sanitation standards.
- Follow up periodically with guests to assist with any additional needs or requests.
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of all menu items and their ingredients.
- Advise guests on appropriate food and drink combinations when requested, and accommodate reasonable requests, noting preferences.
- Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed.
- Communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are delivered correctly and special requests are accommodated.
- Exhibit exceptional communication skills and demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Remain flexible and patient when communicating with both guests and staff.
- Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures.
- Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests.
- Maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information shared by guests.
- Promptly address complaints or issues, relaying relevant information directly to the supervisor.
- Ensure that the dining room is properly set up prior to and after the service period, maintaining cleanliness and meeting established sanitation standards.
- Operate a variety of equipment, including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
- Work collaboratively with staff from other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support dining operations.

Company Policies
All associates must abide by Company policies and procedures, including the use of medium weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins, or cleaning a slicer; the use of oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot pans; and the consistent use of slip-resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques. Associates may also be eligible for paid and/or unpaid time off benefits in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
