About the Opportunity
The Staff Software Engineer will lead the development of a new product platform designed to help millions of families discover and access publicly funded educational resources through a personalized, AI-guided planning experience. This role is central to driving complex engineering projects that improve user access to alternative education options, contributing to the organization's goal of easing navigation in publicly funded education.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex engineering initiatives across personalized discovery, payments, reimbursement workflows, and supply eligibility
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering leadership to align on priorities, tradeoffs, risks, and strategy
- Apply an AI-native development approach and contribute to establishing AI development best practices
- Mentor engineers and influence technical direction through collaboration and expertise
- Participate in agile ceremonies, production deployments, and on-call rotations
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience
- Proficiency in full-stack development using TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL
- Proven experience in AI-native development and leading teams in this area
- Demonstrated senior technical leadership with experience setting direction and making architectural decisions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to clarify technical complexities
- Preferably experience in EdTech, search and discovery systems, marketplace technologies, or high-growth startup environments
Pay Range and Compensation Package
- Salaries reflect local compensation and cost of living across US and Canada
- Canada: $164,000 - $205,000 CAD annually
- US Tier 1 (San Francisco Bay Area, New York City): $158,950 - $198,000
- US Tier 2 (Other major metros): $135,108 - $168,300
- US Tier 3 (Other locations): $118,800 - $148,500
