The Senior Systems Engineer role supports the development and integration of mission and combat systems for naval aircraft. This position ensures technical solutions meet fleet requirements and advances system capabilities. It plays a key role in analyzing concepts, managing software development, and supporting agile engineering efforts to deliver reliable systems.Responsibilities:
- Support the Integrated Product Team Lead for mission systems in combat and mission systems efforts.
- Analyze concepts of operations and decompose requirements to align with fleet expectations.
- Develop technical roadmaps and participate in engineering change proposals.
- Generate engineering analyses, UI designs, change proposals, and technical documentation.
- Assist in troubleshooting mission and combat system malfunctions reported by fleet users.
- Support implementation of Agile Development methodology and remove engineering impediments.
- Recommend design and architecture improvements for current and future software and hardware baselines.
- Decompose high-level correction packages into actionable requirements and use cases.
- Facilitate working groups with subject matter experts to translate fleet needs into development tasks.
- Assist software teams in defining work scope and criteria for completion through iterative approvals.
- Create use case documentation for stakeholder and development team review.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience in one or more of the following: systems engineering, P8 mission or combat systems, naval/DoD application software development.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret security clearance or higher without sponsorship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience with RHEL, Python, Java, legacy naval/DoD applications, and Atlassian Suite.
- Preferred: NAVAIR, P-8A operator experience, systems engineering certification, or software development expertise.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
- Salary range: $80,000 - $110,000 annually.
