About the Opportunity
A growth-stage, NYC-headquartered FinTech organization aims to improve the rent payment experience by enabling flexible monthly payments. The mission is to empower renters with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense.
Role Overview
The Software Engineer I Fullstack Risk Engineering will join the Risk Engineering team to develop services and APIs supporting risk decisioning, fraud prevention, and credit access systems.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Java using Spring Boot.
- Develop user-facing risk-related features using TypeScript with React or React Native.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to deliver features from requirements to production.
- Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code with active code review participation.
- Monitor, debug, and support production systems for distributed environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming principles.
- Experience with React or React Native and proficiency in TypeScript.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and basic system design concepts.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, relational databases, SQL, and Git.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and willingness to learn system operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to risk engineering, fraud detection or decision platforms.
- Experience building mobile and web UIs to design specifications.
- Knowledge of React Native ecosystems including Hooks, Components, Context, and Redux.
- Experience with Spring Boot and backend service development.
- Basic knowledge of AWS cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines like GitHub Actions.
- Exposure to observability tools (e.g., DataDog) and data platforms like Snowflake.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CDK or Terraform.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation varies by location. For NY/NJ/CA locations, base salary is between $139,000 to $153,000, and for all other states, it ranges from $125,000 to $138,000. Benefits include competitive medical coverage, company equity, 401(k) with matching (starting 2026 for U.S.), unlimited paid time off with holidays, parental leave, an employee assistance program, and a free service subscription.
