About the Opportunity
This growth-stage, NYC-headquartered FinTech organization is dedicated to enhancing the rent payment experience by offering users flexible payment schedules throughout the month. The core mission is to empower renters with greater control over their most substantial recurring expense. As a Software Engineer I, Fullstack, Risk Engineering, you will join the Risk Engineering team to develop critical services and APIs that support risk decisioning, fraud prevention, and credit access systems.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Java (Spring Boot) for real-time risk decisioning and fraud prevention.
- Develop engaging user-facing features with TypeScript and React or React Native, focusing on risk-related flows for both web and mobile platforms.
- Collaborate effectively with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver features from initial requirements through to production deployment.
- Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code; actively participate in code reviews to uphold best practices.
- Monitor, debug, and provide support for production systems, gaining valuable experience with distributed systems and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong foundational knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming principles.
- Experience with front-end technologies such as React or React Native, and proficiency in TypeScript.
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and fundamental system design concepts.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and service-oriented architectures.
- Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries.
- Familiarity with Git or other modern version control systems.
- Demonstrated effective communication and collaboration skills.
- A curious mindset and a strong desire to learn about system operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to risk engineering, fraud detection, or decision platforms.
- Experience in building mobile and web user interfaces according to product and design specifications.
- Knowledge of the React Native and React ecosystems, including Hooks, Components, Context, and Redux.
- Prior experience with Spring Boot or general backend service development.
- Basic knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions.
- Exposure to observability and monitoring tools like DataDog.
- Experience or coursework involving data platforms such as Snowflake.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like CDK or Terraform.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation for this role varies by location:
- For NY/NJ/CA locations, the base salary range is $139,000 to $153,000.
- For all other states, the base salary range is $125,000 to $138,000.
