About the Opportunity
The Software Engineer II (Backend) role is responsible for developing and enhancing scalable backend microservices and robust APIs for the next-generation platform. This position plays a critical role in translating complex requirements into maintainable software that powers security insights, directly impacting users' ability to explore and secure the global internet.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and improve backend services that support the platform's core functionality
- Collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver customer-focused features
- Integrate internal and external APIs to enable data-driven experiences
- Manage the full development lifecycle, including build automation, testing, deployment, and monitoring
- Participate in iterative development with continuous improvement and rapid feedback
- Contribute to the evolution of the public API as platform capabilities expand
- Own small-to-medium features from design through launch with guidance
- Share on-call duties and handle incidents with team support

- Experience developing backend services using Go (Golang)
- Foundational knowledge of distributed systems and operational challenges

- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP

Salary Range and Compensation Package
For high cost-of-living areas (San Francisco Bay, New York, Seattle): $143,000 USD – $177,000 USD plus eligibility for bonuses and equity
For other U.S. locations: $125,000 USD – $165,000 USD plus eligibility for bonuses and equity
Salary and job level depend on qualifications, experience, potential impact, and work location.
