About the Opportunity
The Senior Platform Engineer role focuses on enhancing the platform infrastructure’s reliability, observability, performance, and cost efficiency within AWS environments. This position plays a critical role in improving telemetry, monitoring, performance testing, and infrastructure optimization, thereby supporting scalable and operationally efficient systems. The role collaborates closely with engineering teams to elevate platform reliability and infrastructure efficiency in a fast-paced distributed environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead observability efforts across infrastructure and applications
- Design and maintain monitoring, telemetry, dashboards, tracing, and alerting systems
- Enhance visibility into platform health, reliability, and performance
- Improve incident detection, troubleshooting, and operational response
- Establish observability standards and best practices
- Drive infrastructure cost optimization across AWS services
- Analyze and optimize infrastructure utilization and performance
- Maintain infrastructure-as-code workflows
- Design and manage scalable performance testing environments and tooling
- Execute and analyze load and performance tests
- Support HashiCorp Nomad orchestration environments
- Troubleshoot complex production and infrastructure issues
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve scalability, reliability, and efficiency
- Develop and maintain operational documentation and best practices
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years in platform, infrastructure, or site reliability engineering
- Hands-on experience with HashiCorp Nomad
- Deep expertise with Datadog and OpenTelemetry
- Experience with Grafana or similar observability platforms
- Strong knowledge of distributed tracing, metrics, logging, and monitoring
- Skilled in building dashboards, alerts, and telemetry pipelines
- Proven AWS cost optimization experience
- Expertise in S3 storage optimization and lifecycle management
- Experience in performance/load testing environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills in distributed systems
- Proficient with AWS infrastructure and Terraform
- Experience balancing reliability, observability, and cost efficiency at scale
- Familiarity with distributed architectures using Redis, SQS, or Temporal
- Experience managing Elasticsearch or OpenSearch clusters
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Nice to Have
- Exposure to PostgreSQL RDS to Aurora migrations
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD automation
- Programming experience in Go, Python, or TypeScript
Pay Range and Compensation Package
• Annual base salary range: $160,000 - $177,500• Additional compensation includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
