The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting. This role is critical in managing the month-end close process, preparing tax returns, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. The position supports internal stakeholders in resolving accounting and tax issues and contributes to improving accounting processes and controls.Responsibilities
- Lead preparation of general ledger journal entries and fixed asset tracking
- Perform monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Manage accurate and timely month-end close and financial reporting
- Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Interpret financial and operating data for management
- Prepare and review data for financial reports and statements
- Identify and resolve financial data issues
- Assist in adopting new accounting standards and prepare related policies and disclosures
- Lead filing of state and local sales and use tax returns
- Support sales and procurement teams on taxability and certificate preparation
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports and analyses for leadership
- Advise on accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting needs
- Conduct variance analysis on departmental budgets versus actual expenses
- Assist with annual external audits
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum three years progressive general ledger accounting experience or equivalent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience with ERP/accounting software required
- Advanced Excel skills preferred
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence, Database (Access), and Project Management software a plus
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and tax laws
- Strong financial analysis and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
