About the Onboarding Engineer Opportunity

The Onboarding Engineer is critical for the technical implementation of new customers onto the platform. This pivotal role ensures that customer data from legacy point-of-sale systems is accurately migrated, cleaned, and normalized, facilitating a seamless transition. The position demands the ability to diagnose and resolve intricate data issues, diligently maintain migration scripts, and collaborate closely with onboarding managers to meet critical timelines. This role is fundamental in enabling customers to go live confidently and without delay, directly impacting the company’s ability to effectively support live retail businesses.

Responsibilities

• Migrate, clean, and transform customer data from competitor POS systems into the platform.
• Write and maintain Python scripts to automate data migration tasks.
• Collaborate with Onboarding Managers to understand customer data and configuration needs.
• Diagnose and resolve data discrepancies before go-live.
• Manage multiple customer migrations, prioritizing by go-live dates and communicating status.
• Develop familiarity with competitor POS systems and their data formats.
• Document workflows, migration playbooks, and standard operating procedures.
• Work with Engineering and Product teams to identify systemic data issues and improve import tools.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python, including pandas and writing reusable transformation scripts.
• Advanced spreadsheet skills such as VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and handling large datasets.
• Basic SQL knowledge for querying and validating data.
• Familiarity with APIs, including REST or GraphQL and reading API documentation.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy.
• Clear and proactive communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with project management tools (Jira preferred).
• Adaptability to handle varied and ambiguous data migration scenarios.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cannabis POS or compliance systems (Metrc, BioTrack, Leaf Data).
• Knowledge of ETL processes or data pipelines.
• Background in customer-facing technical roles like implementation or technical support.

Pay Range and Compensation Package

Salary range: $75,000 – $100,000
