The Office 365 Engineer will design, implement, and maintain Exchange (on-premises and hybrid), Teams, and Azure AD (Microsoft Entra ID) environments. This role ensures the smooth operation and security of these platforms, supporting critical communication and identity management systems. It is key to maintaining compliance, managing email and collaboration tools, and providing expert escalation support to minimize service disruptions.Responsibilities
- Lead design, configuration, and administration of Exchange Online in Microsoft 365, including mailbox provisioning and tenant-to-tenant migrations
- Manage mail flow architecture, connectors, transport rules, third-party gateway integrations, and DNS records
- Own Exchange Online Protection (EOP) and Microsoft Defender for Office 365, tuning anti-phishing, anti-spam, and protection policies
- Serve as Tier 3/4 escalation for email incidents, conducting Root Cause Analysis
- Design and maintain Microsoft 365 DLP policies across Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive aligned with GDPR and HIPAA
- Administer Microsoft Purview compliance solutions including retention, sensitivity labels, MRM, litigation holds, eDiscovery, communication compliance, and insider risk policies
- Manage email authentication via SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and review Secure Score recommendations
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for Exchange Online bulk operations, lifecycle workflows, compliance reporting, and API integrations
- Follow ITIL and change management best practices for platform changes, including RFCs, CAB reviews, incident/problem records, and post-implementation reviews
- Administer Microsoft Teams messaging, meeting and app permissions, Teams Rooms devices, and provide Tier 2/3 escalation support
- Manage identity with Entra ID using Azure AD Connect, SSO technologies like SAML
- Maintain knowledge of Windows, Active Directory, TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS
- (Optional) Administer RingCentral user provisioning and IVR
Requirements
- Experience with large-scale Exchange migrations and tenant consolidations
- Microsoft certifications in Exchange, Teams, Microsoft 365, or Azure preferred
Pay Range and Compensation Package
- Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000
