The Network Operations Engineer role supports global clients by designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and highly available cloud networking solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The position is responsible for ensuring network and operational stability of client test and production environments across cloud and hybrid environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy AWS networking solutions including VPCs, subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, Transit Gateways, load balancers, and VPN connections
• Implement and manage hybrid cloud connectivity using Direct Connect and Site-to-Site VPN
• Configure and maintain network security with AWS security groups, NACLs, and firewalls
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues across cloud and on-premises environments
• Analyze WAF logs and analytics to identify and respond to suspicious activity, false positives, and performance issues
• Collaborate with DevOps, Security, Infrastructure, and Application teams to ensure secure, efficient cloud network architecture and integrate WAF into CI/CD pipelines
• Develop automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates for consistent WAF configuration across environments
• Automate network provisioning and configuration using IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible
• Stay updated on Cloudflare product updates, threat intelligence, and web application security best practices
• Maintain documentation of network architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
• Perform regular software upgrades of network and switching equipment, including hotfixes and security updates
• Establish and enforce security policies and user access controls for network and firewall systems
• Maintain safety, security, and privacy standards within all responsibility areas
• Stay current with AWS networking services and best practices
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation for escalation of issues and emergencies
• Assist in planning and designing procedures and infrastructure for business continuity and disaster recovery

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of core networking technologies and protocols including HTTP/S, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, subnetting, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching, VLANs, network security (firewalls, ACLs, VPNs), load balancing, high availability, and web application firewalls
• Proficient in cloud networking technologies including Amazon VPC, subnets, route tables, internet and NAT gateways, VPC peering, Transit Gateway, ELB, AWS Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN, AWS Global Accelerator, PrivateLink, VPC Endpoints, Security Groups, Network ACLs, and Route 53
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
• Skilled in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as CloudWatch and VPC Flow Logs
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Visio)
• Experience with LAN/WAN technologies, firewalls, routers, switches, SAN/NAS administration
• Network debugging skills on Cisco or comparable core switches and firewalls
• Experience administering firewalls, VPNs, and associated security technologies
• Experience with routing protocols, DNS, DHCP, and IP addressing
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash, and IaC automation tools like Terraform or Ansible
• Proven ability to deliver high uptime in a 24x7 production environment under customer-facing SLAs
• Relevant certifications preferred: CCNA, CCNP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, or comparable
• Experience with Cloudflare Web Application Firewalls preferred
• Experience with Palo Alto and Juniper firewalls is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Disciplined, detail-oriented, well organized, with strong operational methodology background
