About the Opportunity:

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Safety will play a crucial role in advancing safety systems by developing and optimizing large language models. This position focuses on scalable, efficient enforcement of community rules to maintain user safety as the platform continues to grow. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to create impactful machine learning solutions that safeguard the user experience.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, optimize, and deploy machine learning models, including large language models for natural language tasks.
• Implement and maintain training pipelines with a focus on distributed training and performance efficiency.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to gather requirements, define architectures, and iterate on models.
• Evaluate model performance, conduct analysis, and optimize for accuracy and bias reduction.
• Stay informed on research in natural language processing, multimodal signals, and large language models.
• Contribute to best practices and ethical AI principles for responsible machine learning development.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in machine learning engineering related to natural language processing, deep learning, and AI model development.
• Proficient in Python and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face Transformers.
• Expertise with distributed training frameworks (e.g., Ray Training, PyTorch Distributed) and hardware resource optimization.
• Skilled in data preprocessing, tokenization, embeddings, and language modeling.
• Commitment to developing scalable and responsible AI solutions with positive societal impact.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities across diverse teams.
• Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to act decisively in fast-paced environments.

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• Base salary range: $216,700 to $303,400 USD.
• Eligibility for equity in the form of restricted stock units.
• Potential commission depending on the position offered.
