The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership in the design, development, and evolution of backend platforms. This role influences technical strategy and execution, ensuring delivery of scalable and reliable software solutions. It contributes directly to advancing backend systems and improving the quality and reliability of the organization’s service offerings.Responsibilities
- Lead the backend delivery team by ensuring well-designed, estimable product stories that meet acceptance criteria
- Act as a hands-on technical lead and primary contributor
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based Spring Boot microservices with high-quality, tested code
- Conduct thorough code reviews and mentor engineers to uphold best practices
- Clarify requirements, communicate technical trade-offs, and translate business needs into technical designs
- Participate fully in Agile ceremonies and drive continuous team improvement
- Support and improve CI/CD pipelines, DevOps automation, and deployment processes
- Monitor and troubleshoot using observability tools to maintain microservice health and reliability
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of professional experience with Java and Spring Boot
- 6+ years working with event-driven and API-based microservice architectures
- 5+ years experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL
- 4+ years leading technical design and influencing team engineering decisions
- 4+ years experience working within Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban
- 4+ years collaborating across distributed and cross-functional teams
Pay Range and Compensation Package
- Salary range from $112,700 to $193,200 annually based on full-time employment
- Additional compensation includes incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401(k) contributions subject to eligibility
