About the Opportunity
The IT Cloud Engineer is responsible for ensuring enterprise cloud solutions are effectively designed, delivered, and supported to meet business and technology needs. This role plays a critical part in developing automation, integrating cloud platforms with existing enterprise systems, and maintaining compliance with architectural and security standards. The position impacts the organization by enabling scalable, secure, and efficient cloud infrastructure, supporting application development, and fostering collaboration across technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, deliver, and support enterprise cloud solutions
- Develop scripts to automate tasks using various tools
- Develop and comply with service level agreements and operational level agreements
- Document new or modified solutions and installation instructions
- Write configurations for cloud platforms using appropriate tools
- Collaborate with developers, managing the operational aspects of DevOps
- Develop and maintain tools and frameworks for application development teams
- Implement automation and orchestration technologies
- Build cloud solutions based on business and technical requirements
- Integrate cloud solutions with existing enterprise tools and systems
- Ensure cloud solutions comply with architectural standards
- Evaluate cloud technology standards, tools, products, and solutions for improvement opportunities
- Work with information security to maintain a secure cloud environment
- Assist with planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of cloud solutions
- Support role-based access control, cost management, and cloud account administration
- Develop time and cost estimates for cloud solutions
- Review and modify cloud system specifications and hardware/software compatibility
- Assess technical requirements for cloud infrastructure impact including redundancy and capacity
- Maintain physical design for cloud-based infrastructure and platforms
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 years’ experience including 1 year of leadership, or Associate’s degree with 5 years’ experience including 1 year of leadership, or HS/GED with 7 years’ experience in a large, complex organization may be considered
- Experience deploying and operating public cloud frameworks
- Ability to communicate technical ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to build collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical and data-driven mindset
- Ability to quickly acquire new knowledge and skills
- Familiarity with cloud service design and pricing models
- Experience in cloud deployment, security architecture, database architecture, visualisation, software design, development, IP networking, Linux, Agile, SCRUM, application lifecycle management, .NET, programming languages, technical solution architecture, SOA, Windows Azure, Amazon AWS
- Certification in cloud engineering required within 12 to 24 months
