The Infrastructure Engineer I is responsible for ensuring the secure and reliable operation of the company's computing platforms, servers, and networks. This role plays a critical part in maintaining and improving the infrastructure's performance and availability through installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and support. The position contributes by leading technical projects, supporting development environments, managing vendor relationships, and guiding disaster recovery efforts, all of which help sustain and enhance the organization's IT operations.Responsibilities
- Lead or provide technical guidance for projects and junior staff
- Participate in and potentially lead process and standards committees
- Mentor technical support personnel and handle incident reports
- Plan and recommend replacement of obsolete infrastructure resources
- Evaluate and recommend new software and hardware, prepare documentation
- Coordinate installation and relocation of IT equipment
- Maintain current knowledge of system testing and analysis
- Ensure data security and compliance with data retention policies
- Manage vendor support agreements and software licensing
- Implement security solutions including backups and disaster recovery
- Install, maintain, and support system software, hardware, and infrastructure
- Manage asset lifecycle planning and forecasting
- Collaborate with external vendors on technology changes and contracts
- Analyze resource utilization and optimize infrastructure performance
- Suggest improvements to methods and procedures
- Partner with business clients to support application deployment
- Plan and implement middleware upgrades, patches, and fixes
- Support development, test, and production environments as technical lead
- Lead technical recovery and disaster recovery planning and exercises
- Produce management and staff reports
- Serve as middleware applications contact and manage vendor relations
- Apply knowledge of middleware and network security tools in multi-cloud infrastructure
- Follow best practices for multi-cloud workload management
- Use automation tools for scripting configuration changes
- Lead installation and configuration of enterprise applications
- Develop and maintain technical documentation
- Identify and resolve complex application and data issues
- Provide 24x7 support during on-call rotation

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Certification or progress toward industry-recognized professional designations preferred
- Three to five years of IT environment experience with relevant skills and knowledge
- Preferred one-year experience supporting PCs in multi-site, multi-platform environments and remote staff support
- Experience in the insurance industry is highly preferred
- Strong customer support skills with proven positive outcomes
- Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting systems integration issues
