Fullstack Software Engineer, Risk Engineering

As a Fullstack Software Engineer, Risk Engineering, you will be a vital part of the Risk Engineering team, building robust services and APIs that support critical risk decisioning, fraud prevention, and credit access systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain resilient backend services and APIs using Java (Spring Boot) for real-time risk decisioning and fraud prevention.
• Develop intuitive user-facing features with TypeScript and React/React Native for risk-related workflows across web and mobile platforms.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to translate requirements into production-ready features.
• Produce clean, well-tested, and maintainable code, actively participating in code reviews to uphold best practices.
• Monitor, debug, and provide operational support for production systems, gaining invaluable experience in distributed systems and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Solid understanding of Java and core object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
• Proficiency with React or React Native, and strong skills in TypeScript.
• Foundational knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and basic system design concepts.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL queries.
• Proficiency with Git or other version control systems.
• Demonstrated effective communication and collaboration skills.
• A strong sense of curiosity and a genuine desire to learn about system operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to risk engineering, fraud detection, or decision platform development.
• Experience in building high-quality mobile and web UIs that align with product and design specifications.
• In-depth knowledge of the React Native and React ecosystems, including Hooks, Components, Context, and Redux.
• Practical experience with Spring Boot or general backend service development.
• Basic knowledge of major cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions.
• Exposure to observability and monitoring tools like DataDog.
• Experience or coursework involving data platforms like Snowflake.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CDK or Terraform.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks

This role offers competitive compensation with a base salary ranging from $139,000 to $153,000 for NY/NJ/CA locations, and $125,000 to $138,000 for all other states. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage from day one, company equity, and a 401(k) plan with company match starting in 2026.
