The Engineering Manager, Storage SRE will lead a team responsible for the operation and reliability of the organization's primary database systems. This role drives the technical roadmap, supports database technology transitions, and ensures operational excellence to maintain secure, scalable, and performant mission-critical data services.Responsibilities
- Own the Storage SRE technical roadmap over a 12+ month horizon
- Lead and develop a high-performing, inclusive engineering team
- Generalize cluster lifecycle, schema management, and observability tooling
- Advise engineering teams on reliable database adoption at scale
- Establish operational standards for on-call, incident response, backup, and disaster recovery
- Collaborate with infrastructure and platform teams to keep tooling current
- Enhance developer experience with high-traffic transactional storage systems
- Drive initiatives on performance, security, scalability, and availability
- Communicate technical strategies and trade-offs to engineers and senior leadership
Requirements
- 9+ years in database infrastructure, storage systems, or site reliability engineering
- 3+ years engineering management leading SRE, infrastructure, or platform teams
- Proven ability to build and maintain high-performing teams during change
- Strong technical skills for architectural decisions and roadmap planning
- Experience managing technology transitions while maintaining operational rigor
- Solid knowledge of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and production database operations
- Effective communication skills for clear representation to senior leadership
Pay Range and Compensation Package
- Pay Range $212,000—$265,000 USD
