Following an acquisition in 2023, the organization is positioned for significant growth driven by increasing AI adoption and cloud migration, which are creating high demand for data center capacity. The organization focuses on digital infrastructure innovation and sustainable data center solutions.About the Opportunity
The Energy Planner is responsible for managing energy usage across one or more critical data center facilities. This role ensures reliable and cost-effective power capacity planning, energy cost management, and utility coordination. The position plays a key role in optimizing operational energy efficiency and supports business growth and uptime commitments by collaborating with various internal teams and external utility providers.Responsibilities
- Develop short-term and long-term energy demand forecasts based on IT load growth and expansion plans
- Perform power capacity planning to maintain redundancy requirements
- Analyze energy consumption data using EPMS, BMS, and utility metering
- Track and report KPIs such as PUE, peak demand, and load factor
- Support energy budgeting and cost forecasting
- Coordinate with utility providers on capacity, upgrades, and outages
- Identify and drive energy efficiency initiatives
- Support compliance, sustainability reporting, and risk mitigation
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align energy strategy with operations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in energy management or data center operations
- Strong understanding of data center electrical systems
- Experience with EPMS/BMS platforms and energy analytics
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-site or large-scale data center environments
- Knowledge of utility tariffs and demand response programs
- Familiarity with sustainability and renewable energy programs
- CEM or similar professional certification
Pay Range and Compensation Package
$120,000 - $150,000 a yearBenefits & Perks
