The Director of Human Resources leads the full HR strategy, providing both strategic direction and operational management across all HR functions. Reporting to executive leadership, this role is responsible for shaping talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation, compliance, and HR operations. The position is critical for scaling HR infrastructure and ensuring alignment between people strategies and organizational goals.Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a people strategy aligned with business growth
- Advise executive leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent management
- Establish leadership expectations and reinforce organizational values
- Define hiring philosophy, headcount planning, and compensation frameworks
- Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, ensuring quality, equity, and consistency
- Optimize recruiting systems and processes, including JazzHR
- Design and oversee performance management frameworks including goal setting, reviews, and promotions
- Partner with leaders to enhance accountability and employee development
- Develop and maintain compensation philosophy, salary bands, and incentive programs
- Oversee benefits strategy and vendor relationships for competitiveness and cost control
- Collaborate with Finance on workforce cost planning and budgeting
- Lead resolution of complex employee relations issues and maintain legal compliance
- Manage sensitive employee matters with discretion and fairness
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Conduct audits to maintain compliance with wage laws, leaves, and documentation
- Develop and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook
- Oversee HR systems and operations including Paylocity for payroll and benefits administration
- Utilize HR metrics and data to guide decision-making and improvement
Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources
- 5+ years in senior HR leadership (Director, Head of HR, Senior HR Manager, or equivalent)
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Expertise in employee relations, compliance, performance management, compensation, and HR operations
- Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR best practices
- Experience advising executive leadership and handling complex HR issues
- Proven ability to scale HR processes in a growing organization
Preferred Qualifications
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP)
- Hands-on experience with Paylocity and JazzHR
- Experience supporting distributed or remote teams
- Data-driven and systems-oriented approach
Pay Range and Compensation Package
- 100,000-130,000 USD plus bonus opportunities
