About the Opportunity

This organization provides a cutting-edge platform for exposure management, offering comprehensive visibility across the entire attack surface without traditional limitations. The platform reveals every asset and exposure across internal, external, IT, OT, IoT, mobile, and cloud environments, including previously unknown and unmanageable devices. As the Director of Communications & Social Media, you will be instrumental in managing PR, social media, content strategy, and corporate marketing initiatives to significantly amplify the organization’s voice and grow brand awareness. This pivotal role involves extensive collaboration with executive leadership, research teams, demand generation, content marketing, people teams, and external agencies, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a global PR and communications strategy fully aligned with overarching business goals.
  • Lead the social media strategy, defining the brand voice and driving growth, while fostering technical engagement and thought leadership within the cybersecurity community.
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with key cybersecurity journalists and influential industry figures to secure impactful media coverage.
  • Elevate the public profiles of executive and research teams through strategic speaking engagements, industry awards, and compelling contributed content.
  • Collaborate closely on strategic content planning, transforming complex technical research into engaging, viral social content and persuasive media pitches.
  • Serve as the primary guardian of the brand voice and lead rapid-response communications during security events or crises.
  • Manage external PR agencies, ensuring seamless integration of efforts and demonstrating measurable return on investment (ROI).
  • Establish clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for brand sentiment, share of voice, PR placements, and social engagement, utilizing data to continuously refine strategies.
  • Manage the annual calendar of industry awards and speaking opportunities, leading theme identification, abstract drafting, and expert coaching for speakers.
  • Provide comprehensive editorial support for all marketing and communications materials, ensuring high quality and consistent brand messaging.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to produce diverse content formats, including written pieces, livestreams, webcasts, podcasts, and broadcast media appearances.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in PR, communications, or social media, specifically within the B2B cybersecurity sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate highly complex cybersecurity concepts into compelling, accessible narratives for various audiences.
  • A proven track record of securing high-profile placements in top-tier business and trade publications, alongside a strong history of building and nurturing relationships with journalists and influencers.
  • Expert-level knowledge of major social media platforms and a keen awareness of critical cybersecurity community channels (e.g., Reddit, Mastodon, Discord).
  • Extensive experience working directly with founders and C-suite executives, adept at balancing strategic planning with hands-on, tactical execution.
  • Proficiency with leading PR and social analytics tools to effectively measure and report on impact and performance.
  • Possess a strong collaborative mindset, with proven experience working successfully across Go-To-Market (GTM), product, and people teams.
  • Ability to thrive and excel in a fast-paced, remote-first environment characterized by a dynamic news cycle.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is competitive, falling between $185,000 to $215,000, determined by market data and candidate experience. Equity is provided to all employees.
