About the Opportunity
This organization offers a leading exposure management platform that provides comprehensive visibility into every asset and exposure across diverse environments, including IT, OT, IoT, mobile, and cloud, without requiring agents or appliances. The Director of Communications and Social Media will be instrumental in managing PR, social media, content strategy, and corporate marketing initiatives to amplify the organization’s voice and grow awareness. This role requires close collaboration with executive, research, demand generation, content marketing, and people teams, as well as external agencies, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a global PR and communications strategy aligned with business goals.
- Lead social media strategy, voice, and growth, fostering technical engagement and thought leadership.
- Build and maintain relationships with cybersecurity journalists and industry influencers for media coverage.
- Elevate executive and research team profiles via speaking engagements, awards, and contributed content.
- Collaborate on strategic content planning, including transforming technical research into viral social content and media pitches.
- Serve as the primary gatekeeper for brand voice and lead communications for rapid-response and security events.
- Manage external PR agencies, ensuring integration and measurable ROI.
- Establish KPIs for brand sentiment, share of voice, PR, and social engagement, using data to adjust strategies.
- Manage annual calendar of industry awards and speaking opportunities; lead theme identification, abstract drafting, and expert coaching.
- Provide editorial support to marketing and communications materials for quality and consistency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to produce diverse content formats such as written pieces, livestreams, webcasts, podcasts, and broadcast media.
Requirements
- 10+ years of PR, communications, or social media experience in B2B cybersecurity.
- Proven ability to translate complex cybersecurity concepts into compelling narratives.
- Track record securing placements in top-tier business and trade publications and building journalist and influencer relationships.
- Expert knowledge of social media platforms and awareness of key cybersecurity community channels (e.g., Reddit, Mastodon, Discord).
- Experience working directly with founders and C-suite executives, balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution.
- Proficiency with PR and social analytics tools to measure impact.
- Strong collaborative mindset with experience working across GTM, product, and people teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote-first environment with a dynamic news cycle.
