2. About the Opportunity:
The Senior Data Engineer (DBA) role is responsible for the comprehensive administration, performance, and security of enterprise database platforms, particularly PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL, across on-premises and multi-cloud environments. This position supports cloud modernization and operational excellence, ensuring reliable database operations that underpin critical healthcare data systems.
3. Responsibilities:
• Administer and optimize PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL databases in on-premises and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Manage installations, upgrades, migrations, patching, and security compliance
• Ensure database availability, performance, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery meeting RTO/RPO objectives
• Monitor and resolve database and cloud platform incidents; participate in on-call rotations
• Support storage, capacity planning, application releases, and change management
• Collaborate with engineering, application, and infrastructure teams on cloud modernization and automation
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to architecture standards and best practices
• Communicate risks, issues, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership
4. Requirements:
• 5+ years of database administration experience in complex enterprise environments
• 5+ years supporting mission-critical production databases with high availability and 24x7 operations
• 5+ years hands-on with PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL
• 5+ years experience in backup, recovery, cloning, migration, performance tuning, and capacity management
• 3+ years supporting cloud-based databases across Azure, AWS, and GCP (PaaS and IaaS)
• 3+ years delivering cloud migration, modernization, and high availability/disaster recovery solutions
• 3+ years database performance optimization including query tuning and workload analysis
• 3+ years scripting and automation using Python and Shell
• 2+ years experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Willingness to participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Ability to work across cross-functional and distributed teams
• Proactive focus on reliability, automation, and operational excellence
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• Salary range for this role is $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment
• Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, experience, and certifications
• Additional benefits include comprehensive package, incentive programs, equity stock purchase, and 401(k) contributions subject to eligibility
