About the Opportunity
The Data Analyst plays a critical role in supporting data and evaluation functions within the agency. This position enables informed decision-making by developing interactive reports and dashboards, extracting insights from complex datasets, and advising program leaders on data-related matters. The role contributes directly to program evaluation and performance improvement efforts, facilitating the agency's effective use of data to enhance services.
Responsibilities
- Develop interactive data reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI and Excel based on user requirements.
- Manipulate and extract insights from complex datasets, including automated ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) functions in Power BI, Excel data handling, and SQL query writing.
- Advise program leaders and staff on program evaluation, data collection methods, reporting, and performance improvement.
- Participate in strategic meetings and represent the Data team on agency committees and workgroups.
- Contribute to team knowledge-sharing, peer code/report reviews, and maintain a supportive team culture.
- Engage actively in organizational activities advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) values.
- Manage and coordinate complex analytics projects involving multiple cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- Educational background meeting one of the following criteria: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, Associate degree plus 1 year of relevant professional experience, or High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in data or business analytics, data manipulation, and data visualization.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Ability to secure clearance from a tuberculosis (TB) test, fingerprinting background checks, and any applicable state or federal compliance requirements.
- Core technical proficiency in SQL query writing, Power Query data transformations, Power BI report/dashboard development with DAX, and advanced Excel data tools.
- Strong baseline understanding of fundamental statistical concepts and data visualization best practices.
- Hands-on experience with data modeling and navigating complex relational databases.
- Proven skills in planning, organizing, and managing complex data projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Collaborative team orientation and a verified commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in structured survey design and analyzing raw data from survey responses preferred.
- Familiarity with Git version control and peer review workflows preferred.
- Background or domain knowledge in business analytics, performance improvement, program evaluation, or relevant public service fields preferred.
Pay Range and Compensation Package
- Base salary range: $87,418.00 to $101,418.00 USD per year (starting salary depends on applicable experience).
