About the Opportunity:
The Cyber Security Engineer II plays a critical role in designing and delivering cybersecurity solutions that safeguard healthcare information systems. This position collaborates with business partners and security architects to translate security requirements into effective technical implementations. The role directly impacts the organization’s ability to protect clinical and operational data through technologies such as web application firewalls, zero trust network access, and secure internet controls.
Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering and implementation of web application firewalls for healthcare systems
- Design, deploy, and support web proxy, network segmentation, and secure remote access solutions
- Participate in integrated systems planning and recommend alternative technologies
- Review and develop technical design concepts for new systems integration
- Coordinate development of strategic business cases for project funding decisions
- Analyze client business processes and requirements, ensuring clear documentation
- Initiate and coordinate analysis of complex client needs including new operating models and IT solution assessments
- Develop efficient, cost-effective technology solutions aligned with business goals
- Advise clients on risk assessments and communicate potential impacts clearly
- Perform additional duties as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline; Master’s degree preferred
- Ten years of related experience with deep knowledge of relevant technologies; healthcare experience preferred
- Required experience with web application firewalls; familiarity with Akamai or related technologies recommended
- Experience with network segmentation or zero trust architectures; Cisco ISE, Zscaler ZPA, or Guardicore experience recommended
- Experience with secure internet or web proxy solutions; Palo Alto firewalls, Zscaler Internet Access, or WebTitan recommended
- Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, or CEH
- Strong stakeholder management skills to resolve architecture challenges
- Excellent verbal and written communication, able to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Compensation:
The salary range for this Cyber Security Engineer II position is $120,000.00 to $180,060.00 annually, compliant with New York City salary transparency laws. Actual salary depends on experience, education, and operational needs, excluding bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other benefits.
