About the Opportunity
The organization is a national, mission-driven Financial Management Services (FMS) provider supporting over 55,000 people across the country in self-directing their long-term services and supports. The Cloud Administrator role is critical to ensuring the cloud environments are secure, reliable, and optimized to support rapidly expanding, technology-enabled services. This position involves managing day-to-day cloud operations, implementing security best practices, enhancing system resilience, and supporting automation to maintain smooth infrastructure operations across all states and programs.
Responsibilities
- Manage cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) including compute resources, storage, virtual networks, load balancers, and databases
- Ensure cloud services are configured for high availability, scalability, and optimal performance
- Monitor system health, uptime, capacity, and alerts, responding proactively to issues
- Administer identity and access management enforcing least-privilege and secure access
- Implement and maintain security controls including encryption, firewalls, network segmentation, MFA, and threat detection
- Partner with Compliance and Security teams to support HIPAA, SOC 2, Medicaid, and state-specific requirements
- Enforce cloud governance standards such as tagging, cost controls, and resource lifecycle policies
- Automate routine cloud tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Terraform, Bicep, or similar technologies
- Identify and implement resource optimization to control cloud spend and improve efficiency
- Assist with CI/CD workflows, cloud-supported deployments, and environment refreshes
- Investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents, performance issues, connectivity problems, and service disruptions
- Serve as escalation point for cloud-related operational issues across Technology, Operations, and Support teams
- Conduct root-cause analysis and contribute to long-term corrective actions
- Manage backup policies, snapshots, replication, and disaster recovery configurations
- Support business continuity initiatives for mission-critical systems such as payroll, tax processing, and member enrollment
- Create and maintain documentation for cloud configurations, standard operating procedures, and architectural patterns
- Collaborate with DevOps, Development, Security, Operations, and Customer Support teams to deliver reliable cloud solutions
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years professional experience administering cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or both)
- Hands-on expertise with virtual machines, cloud networking, identity management, and monitoring tools
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices, IAM, and regulatory compliance considerations
- Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Terraform, or similar technologies
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, time-management, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications such as Azure Administrator (AZ-104), AWS SysOps Administrator, or equivalent
- Experience in healthcare, government, financial services, or regulated industries
- Knowledge of HIPAA, SOC 2, Medicaid program requirements, or other compliance frameworks
- Familiarity with DevOps tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines)
- Understanding of FMS, employer-of-record, or payroll-centric operational environments (not required)
