About the Opportunity for Buyer II
This position oversees, manages, and analyzes all merchandise requirements to ensure fulfillment at distribution centers. It involves reviewing a complex product mix to ensure accurate forecasting, proper order placement, and compliance with agreements. The Buyer II role manages higher demand variability and seasonal lines and requires collaboration with marketing and supplier partners.
Responsibilities
- Manage complex import vendors with high lead times, forecasting, and container requirements
- Determine appropriate product quantities to maintain sufficient inventory replenishment
- Negotiate special buying agreements for additional discounts to increase profit margin
- Maintain low levels of underperforming inventory through regular review of stock and forecasts
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to recommend disposition of discontinued and slow-moving products
- Contact vendors for product information, backorder status, and suggested substitutions
- Build and maintain favorable vendor and sales relationships to maximize profitability
- Analyze merchant sales plans and sales history to develop inventory forecasts
- Monitor and adjust purchasing system for demand and lead time irregularities
- Review and add value to system-generated order suggestions and projections proactively
- Negotiate volume discounts with suppliers
- Meet vendors to stay informed on product specifications and discontinued items
Requirements
To be successful as a Buyer II, candidates should possess:
- Ability to optimize fill rates while minimizing inventory levels
- Anticipate future trends
- Work effectively with ambiguous data
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners and suppliers
- Strong negotiation skills
- Broad knowledge of SKU optimization
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Teams
- Ability to manage key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Typically 4 or more years of progressively responsible professional experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or global equivalent in a related discipline
- E3 Level 4 certification required

Compensation
Starting base salary range: $70,440 to $96,885, depending on experience and skills. Eligible for bonus not included in base salary range.
