Job Description
About the Opportunity:
The Buyer role guides and participates in the procurement process, supporting various departments across projects including facilities improvements, construction, and product production. This remote position requires multitasking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Manage procurement and sourcing of goods and services for operations.
- Work with end-users to ensure requirements and specifications are aligned.
- Facilitate bid requests and bid awards.
- Investigate market conditions for goods and services.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to obtain the greatest value.
- Review bid proposals with end-users to determine awards based on analytical data.
- Interview suppliers to gather information on products, services, and performance metrics.
- Ensure procurement activities align with operations scheduling and expedite when necessary.
- Maintain records and utilize ERP for data retrieval to manage materials processes.
- Participate in on-call rotation within the purchasing team.
- Develop reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and present information to various groups.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Minimum five years of experience or training in purchasing, procurement, or related fields.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to calculate basic figures such as proportions, percentages, area, volume, pressure, density, and capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in industries such as mining or manufacturing.
- ISM Certification.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables.

Schedule and Work Environment:
- 9/80 schedule: Monday to Thursday (9-hour days), Fridays worked (8-hour day) with every other Friday off; schedule subject to change.
- Indoor, temperature-controlled office environment.
- Moderate noise levels typical of a business office.
- Safety attire and personal protective equipment required when applicable.
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting and hearing over two-thirds of work time.
- Standing, walking, using hands, reaching, climbing, and stooping under one-third of work time.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for up to one-third of work time.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and high or precarious places under one-third of work time.
- Pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test required prior to placement.
