The Associate Systems Integration & Data Automation Engineer role is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and expanding the technical infrastructure that underpins core workflows. This position ensures system reliability, improves existing tools, and leverages data and emerging technologies to enhance organizational operations. The role is key to advancing automation, data accessibility, and technology integration across the team.Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure the Virtual Book Room built on SharePoint with PowerShell-driven automation
- Optimize PostgreSQL queries, structure, and logic for improved database performance
- Design and implement improvements to the technology stack, focusing on automation, workflows, security, and integrations
- Evaluate and apply AI tools to streamline processes and enhance data access for editorial and operational use
- Develop and refine data automations for internal stakeholders, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure accurate and accessible data
- Independently execute technical implementations while regularly collaborating on requirements and direction
Requirements
- Expertise in cybersecurity best practices related to programming, automation, databases, and AI
- Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation, system building, debugging, and process improvements
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or other scripting languages for automation and data transformation
- Proven ability to build and maintain SharePoint automated systems, including integrations and workflow automation
- Experience using Power BI or Tableau for dashboard and report creation
- Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL, including database design, query optimization, stored procedures, and troubleshooting
- Ability to develop AI-enabled workflows and agents; experience with Copilot in production preferred
- Familiarity with automation architecture, REST APIs/webhooks, and Git
- Experience collaborating across departments and solving complex technical challenges independently
- Strong communication skills to document systems and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of library environments is strongly preferred
- Ability to contribute to the overall technical architecture with inventive and practical solutions aligned with editorial priorities
Education and Certifications (preferred but not required)
- Microsoft Azure certifications (such as Azure Administrator, Data Engineer, or DevOps Engineer)
- Microsoft 365 or SharePoint certifications
- Database certifications focused on PostgreSQL or relational database management
- Certifications in automation, DevOps, infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform)
- Experience or certification in AI/ML technologies or applied AI solutions
- Foundational security or systems certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+)
- Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and technical expertise will also be considered
