Job Description

At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. This role is about solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping to develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up.

About the Team

The Additive Technology team operates at the frontier of research and development where creativity meets capability. You will work alongside welders, robotics engineers, data scientists, and systems engineers to create an end-to-end additive manufacturing platform. The Robotics team builds and refines advanced hardware powering autonomous systems in manufacturing and beyond.

About the Role

As a Senior Computational Design Engineer, you will develop strategies, algorithms, and workflows for generating, analyzing, and processing complex geometries for Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM). You will collaborate with robotics, weld, and simulation engineers to translate complex design geometries into mesh structures suitable for analysis and production.

  • Develop meshing algorithms for evaluating and simulating prints.
  • Collaborate to improve workflows between CAD, simulation, and production.
  • Define best practices for 2D and 3D mesh generation.

About You

You are skilled in computational design with advanced mesh generation expertise. With experience in scripting (Python, C#, C++) and a solid understanding of additive manufacturing and sensor feedback loops, you can articulate complex ideas clearly. A BS in a relevant field and 3+ years of industry experience are required. Experience with version control, CAE/CAM, Rhino 3D, and Grasshopper is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $157,000—$200,000 USD. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, generous PTO, parental leave, an annual learning stipend, and more. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity.
