Job Summary: Field Service Technician
Refined Technologies is currently expanding its team of Artisans with a Field Service Technician. In this variable-hour role, you will be instrumental in directing the set-up and supporting the execution objectives of Operations Project Managers on various RTI projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Directs refinery personnel and contractors on the staging of RTI chemistry.
- Safely sets up RTI equipment, including placing and connecting RTI-owned pumps and hoses.
- Manages refinery contractors (mechanical fitters) as they connect RTI equipment to injection points and plant utilities.
- Operates and supervises others operating RTI-owned pumps during chemical injection.
- Leads clean-up efforts after projects and de-mobilizes equipment according to specified procedures.
- Assists Operations Project Managers as requested.
- Performs periodic, scheduled, and as-needed maintenance on RTI Injection Pumps and Equipment.
- Maintains a consistent level of competency on RTI Injection Pump Operation and Maintenance.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong understanding of refinery piping circuits and PFD drawings for application purposes (strong mechanical aptitude).
- Ability to clearly and confidently communicate plans to refinery contractors (strong written and verbal communication skills).
- Aptitude to diagnose and solve problems during actual applications.
- Commitment to performing work safely in all settings.
- Documented mechanical aptitude or formal mechanical education.
- Valid passport and driver’s license.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a TWIC Card is preferred.
- Preference given to candidates with process knowledge of upgrader, refinery, or petrochemical units.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
The Company requires successful completion of a pre-employment physical to ensure the ability to safely meet the physical demands of the position, as determined by an objective medical professional.
Duration Of Workhours During Project Executions
- Typically, 12 continuous hours, potentially extending up to 16–18 hours if emergent needs arise, for up to 14 consecutive days.
- Work may involve day shift and/or night shift.
Working Conditions During Project Executions
- Exposure to uneven or unstable ground, and wet, muddy, or slippery surfaces and footings.
- Work in outside locations under extreme temperatures and various weather conditions, including wind, rain, snow, and other forms of inclement weather.
- Routine, intermittent exposure to noise exceeding 85 dBA-TWA.
- Environments that may necessitate the use of respiratory protection for the duration of a shift.
- Medical clearance and quantitative fit testing are required for half-face, full-face, and/or supplied air respiratory protection.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work at heights up to 150 ft/45m, accessed via stairs, climbing ladders, or critical lifts by cranes; requires the ability to climb ladders and stairs without issue.
- Lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
- Pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs. without assistance.
- Standing and walking for up to 12 to 16 hours daily with minimal rest breaks, potentially exceeding 10,000 to 15,000 steps per day.
- Repeated bending and stooping, performing tasks including twisting or turning valves, and using wrenches and hand tools.
Travel Requirements
Ability to travel extensively to multiple North American markets to support a growing client base. Out-of-town assignments typically range from 3 to 15 days in length.
