About ReFED
ReFED is a U.S.-based nonprofit focused on catalyzing the food system to stop wasting food. The organization provides data-driven tools, insights, and resources to reduce food waste, mitigate climate change, and address food insecurity.
Position Overview
The Events Manager, reporting to the Director of Community Engagement, will lead project management, operational planning, and execution for ReFED’s annual Food Waste Solutions Summit along with multiple virtual and in-person events. This role collaborates with internal teams and external vendors to deliver impactful events.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Summit Execution: Lead planning, logistics, vendor management and operational execution for a large-scale event (approximately 750 attendees).
- Event Strategy: Develop and oversee strategies for both virtual and in-person events including webinars and smaller gatherings.
- Vendor & Budget Management: Manage sourcing, contracting, and coordinating with venues and external contractors.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with programmatic, communications, development, and operations teams to execute event needs.
- Sustainability Focus: Implement low- and zero-waste practices across all event operations.
Qualifications
Applicants should have 5+ years of event planning or management experience, strong project management skills, proven vendor management experience, and a commitment to sustainable events. Proficiency in tools like G Suite, MS Office, Slack, Zoom, Salesforce, and similar systems is required. Experience in food industry contexts or understanding food waste solutions is preferred.
Recruitment Process
