Overview

The Data Engineer role at Data Engineer is based at Scott Air Force Base supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure to integrate structured and unstructured data across the DISA enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Implement data models, schemas, and database structures for efficient storage and retrieval.
  • Optimize and tune data processing workflows for performance and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for processes and systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Support integration of test use cases.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, engineering, or related field is required along with a minimum of 10 years experience in data engineering or data warehousing. Active DoD Secret Clearance is required. Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala; SQL and database technologies; big data tools like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka; and familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is essential.

Knowledge of data governance, quality, and security best practices is expected. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are necessary, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Information

Familiarity with AI/ML techniques, relevant certifications (AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer) and experience in deploying models is a plus.
