Senior Software Engineer, Cloud at Redpanda Data
Redpanda is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the architecture and development of their Agentic Data Plane (ADP). This role involves designing and building cloud services across AWS, GCP, and Azure, and operating ADP and Redpanda Cloud to meet high SLAs. The engineer will also play a key role in shaping the technical culture and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of robust, scalable systems.
About The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and developing Redpanda’s Agentic Data Plane (ADP) product, building upon their Bring Your Own Cloud, Serverless, and Redpanda Connect offerings. You will lead system architecture, develop new features, and operate ADP and Redpanda Cloud, ensuring a 99.99% SLA. This role requires raising the engineering bar for the Cloud team and close collaboration with other engineering teams (Cloud, Core, Platform) and customer-facing teams. A strong emphasis will be placed on building stable systems with zero-downtime upgrades.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and operate ADP and cloud services across AWS, GCP, and Azure, including control plane and data plane components.
- Convert ambiguous product requirements into clear technical designs and executable workstreams.
- Lead the technical direction of large projects within ADP and contribute to cross-team architecture discussions.
- Anticipate and mitigate technical risks to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
- Set and uphold high standards for reliability, scalability, performance, and security.
- Identify and champion new features, process improvements, and initiatives to enhance engineering culture and operational excellence.
- Participate in the on-call escalation chain, aiming to reduce escalations and improve operational health.
- Build tools and services for automated infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and self-healing.
- Integrate resilience and observability into owned systems for enterprise-grade cloud services.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience designing and operating large-scale, reliable systems in public cloud environments.
- Proven track record of leading large technical projects end-to-end.
- Strong proficiency in Go or a comparable systems language.
- Experience with AI-assisted software development workflows (e.g., Claude Code).
- Production experience with Kubernetes, including running and operating workloads.
- Working knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) and IaC.
- Familiarity with stream processing concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable in a globally distributed, async environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Compensation:
U.S. base salary range for this role is $205,000 - $230,000. Salary is determined by role, level, location, skills, and experience. Specific salary range will be shared by the talent partner during the hiring process.
