The Role of Staff Product Designer, Ads Platform

Advertising is fundamental to Reddit’s business. The Ads UX team is dedicated to exceptional design and product development, playing a central role in shaping the experience for advertisers and influencing Reddit’s monetization strategy. As a Staff Product Designer, you will lead the design of innovative, intuitive, and high-performance tools that empower advertisers and account managers to create, optimize, and monitor ad campaigns across the platform. Your expertise will be crucial in defining the design direction of Reddit’s Ads Manager and guiding AI-driven automation efforts to create a more intelligent and efficient advertising ecosystem. This role offers a unique opportunity to directly impact and steer the vision of a high-impact, critical product by simplifying complexity.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the design roadmap for the Ads Platform, ensuring a cohesive and non-fragmented ecosystem for advertisers.
• Architect foundational design patterns and complex workflows, such as campaign builders and reporting dashboards, for consistency and speed across the Ads organization.
• Serve as the primary design bridge to Engineering and Product for highly technical initiatives, translating complex backend constraints into elegant user mental models.
• Set the quality bar through high-fidelity prototyping and systems thinking, conducting rigorous design reviews to elevate the output of other designers.
• Drive alignment across Product, Engineering, and Sales teams by synthesizing competing requirements into a unified design direction.
• Invest in the growth of the Ads Design team by providing actionable feedback on craft, strategy, and professional development, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Partner with UX Research to transform advertiser data and market trends into actionable design principles, de-risking the product roadmap.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in product design, with a proven track record of navigating high-complexity enterprise systems and managing design for products with deep technical constraints and multi-sided marketplaces.
• 3+ years of specific experience in Ads, FinTech, or Marketplace systems, demonstrating understanding of auction-based systems, revenue attribution, and design impact on business-critical KPIs.
• A portfolio showcasing the ability to build scalable design frameworks and patterns, illustrating improvements in team efficiency or design consistency.
• Demonstrated ability to translate broad business goals into concrete, executable design strategies.
• High proficiency in documenting complex logic, state transitions, and data-heavy interactions, comfortable using high-fidelity prototypes to test hypotheses and communicate north star visions.
• Experience partnering directly with Product and Engineering Leads to shape roadmaps, with a persuasive storytelling ability to defend design logic and align cross-functional teams.
• A clear history of formal or informal mentorship, including experience with high-impact design reviews, establishing team processes, and elevating the craft and strategic thinking of other designers.

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. The base salary range for this position is $194,600—$272,400 USD. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
