Ads are fundamental to Reddit’s business, and the Ads Design team is crucial in shaping Reddit’s monetization strategy. The Platform team is responsible for developing stable, reliable, and robust tools that enable advertisers and account managers to efficiently oversee ad campaigns at scale. The primary goal is to facilitate seamless interactions between brands and users, delivering value for both.

Role Overview: Principal Product Designer, Ads Platform

As a Principal Product Designer on the Ads UX team, you will be instrumental in defining the strategic vision and leading the design of innovative, intuitive, and high-performance tools. These tools empower advertisers and account managers to create, optimize, and monitor their ad campaigns across Reddit. Your expertise will directly influence the design direction of Reddit’s Ads Manager and guide efforts towards AI-driven automation, transforming the platform into a more intelligent and efficient advertising ecosystem.

You will take ownership of critical design initiatives, impacting business-critical areas that dictate how brands connect with Reddit users. This demands visionary strategic thinking, close collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a profound understanding of the broader advertising ecosystem. You are also expected to inspire and mentor fellow designers, elevating the overall design quality within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the long-term design vision and lead the design strategy for Reddit’s Advertiser Platform, balancing complex advertising needs with simplicity and usability.
• Stay current with the latest ad technologies, design trends, and the evolving digital ecosystem.
• Lead the conceptualization of innovative initiatives for the Ads Platform, pushing the boundaries of user-centric design and identifying opportunities for Reddit to differentiate itself.
• Translate intricate ideas into scalable, intuitive design solutions that enhance the user experience for advertisers and account managers at scale.
• Take the lead throughout every stage of the design lifecycle, from ideation to delivery, ensuring high-quality execution that marries innovation with usability.
• Gain a deep understanding of the diverse needs of advertisers across various market segments and verticals, translating these insights into intuitive, impactful design solutions.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and UX researchers, building consensus and effectively communicating design concepts to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Cultivate a learning and growth culture within the design team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment while developing emerging design talent.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of UX/UI design experience, with extensive expertise in enterprise-scale platforms and a proven track record of navigating complex systems and solving challenging design problems.
• Significant experience (3+ years) leading high-impact strategic initiatives, demonstrating the ability to translate complex user stories into simple, compelling narratives.
• A strong history of persuasion balanced with inclusivity and a learning mindset.
• A portfolio showcasing an exceptional ability to distill difficult challenges into intuitive interfaces, with a history of delivering scalable design systems for sophisticated automated logic and high-stakes business processes.
• Visionary and strategic thinking combined with detailed execution experience for a complete user experience.
• A demonstrated commitment to enhancing the design organization, including nurturing talent and fostering a culture of experimentation, particularly in emerging technologies.
• A track record of industry-leading work and impactful product launches, with quantifiable evidence of how your designs have influenced company-wide KPIs and shaped the long-term trajectory of global platforms.
