We are seeking a Director of Design to spearhead the user experience for our Ads Platform pillar. This high-impact role positions you as the design leader for the entire ads platform ecosystem, specifically overseeing the end-to-end experience of ads.reddit.com. You will be instrumental in defining and executing the experience strategy for a critical business area, transforming how advertisers engage with the expansive Reddit community.

Your leadership will drive the design vision for significant strategic initiatives, including the evolution of our ads manager towards agentic campaign management experiences that deliver optimal performance while promoting transparency, control, and human ingenuity. Your work will be pivotal in expanding our active advertiser base and pioneering industry-leading innovations within Reddit's rapidly growing ads business.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Design Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive UX strategy for the Ads Platform, deeply aligned with Reddit’s mission. You will shape the experiences across campaign management, insights, recommendations, and creative generation, evolving our business model through intuitive, high-impact design.
• Product-Led Growth: Lead the design and implementation of features that encourage self-service adoption, such as in-platform insights, data-driven recommendations, and advanced reporting capabilities.
• Organizational Scaling: Mentor and manage a high-performing design team, fostering a culture of craft excellence and continuous professional development.
• Cross-Functional Impact: Collaborate closely with Product and Research teams to drive platform-wide initiatives, ensuring complex ad technology—including Ads APIs, billing, and CRM tools—is user-centric and easily accessible.
• Operational Excellence: Uphold the quality of the advertiser experience and optimize design organization efficiency by enhancing design systems and high-impact delivery workflows.
• Executive Influence: Effectively communicate and influence at an executive level, acting as a subject matter expert on ad tech industry trends and user behavior.
• Change Management: Demonstrate a "Reddit-first" mindset, adept at quickly adapting design functions to support evolving business priorities and advertiser needs.

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years of relevant design experience, with a minimum of 5+ years managing teams of 10 or more designers.
• Ad Tech Expertise: Possess deep functional knowledge of ads management platforms, including Campaign and Creative Management, Reporting/Insights, and Advertiser Growth, or similarly complex sales/enterprise systems.
• Visionary Portfolio: Showcase a world-class portfolio demonstrating design strategy and systems for complex, professional-grade platforms at scale.
• Strategic Acumen: Proven track record of driving company-wide initiatives (e.g., AI-driven automation, business model transformations) with significant business impact.
• Ambiguity Leadership: Ability to build solutions from fundamental principles in uncertain situations and elevate the performance of the entire Leadership Team.
• User Empathy: Exhibit a strong sense of empathy for the advertiser journey, balanced with a drive to deliver the best possible product.

Pay Transparency

This job posting may span more than one career level. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units, and potentially a commission depending on the specific position offered. The Base Salary Range For This Position Is: $245,800—$344,100 USD
