The Role: Data Science Manager

The Data Science Team at Reddit is expanding, and we are seeking an experienced Data Science Manager to lead a talented team. You will drive and optimize user growth by uncovering crucial insights and spearheading strategic initiatives. This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional partners, including Product, Engineering, Design, and Marketing, to enhance systems that continuously fuel our user growth.

Responsibilities

• Drive the adoption of strategic and tactical recommendations, leveraging deep, hands-on experience with Reddit products and robust data skills, to maximize value for Reddit consumers.
• Serve as a key thought-partner for product managers, engineering managers, and leadership within your product domain, communicating and shaping Reddit's roadmap and strategy through actionable, impactful insights from deep-dive analyses.
• Be proactively involved in all phases of product development, encompassing ideation, exploratory analysis, opportunity sizing, metrics design, offline modeling, experimentation and decision-making, and post-launch monitoring/measurements.
• Maintain a keen interest in the collection and quality of underlying data (experiment design and analysis, data deep dive), and contribute to working on ETLs, reporting dashboards, and data aggregations essential for business tracking and/or ML model development.

Required Qualifications

• An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, physics, economics, or operations research.
• For Masters holders, 10+ years of industry experience; for PhD holders, 6+ years of industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience in driving product strategy and roadmaps through analytics, ideally within consumer technology products and marketplaces.
• Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing product analytics teams, including 2+ years of leadership experience as a people manager leading a team of 5+ data scientists. Your prior teams should have expertise in causal inference, A/B testing experimentation, metric definition and governance, and product strategy.
• Experience leading initiatives to enable analytics self-serve capabilities for cross-functional teams.
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of effectively conveying complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to understand nuanced complex concepts and systems and simplify them for broader understanding.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python/R for hands-on analysis, with the willingness to collaborate actively with your team when necessary.
• A collaborative attitude, natural curiosity, and strong evidence-backed product opinions.

Pay Transparency

This job posting may cover more than one career level. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units and may be eligible for a commission depending on the position offered. We provide base salary ranges for all US-based job postings for greater transparency, benchmarking against similar stage growth companies. Final offers are determined by factors such as skills, depth of experience, and relevant credentials, which may lead to variations from the listed amounts.

The Base Salary Range For This Position Is $217,000—$303,900 USD.
