About the Associate Consultant Role at Red Hat
This is a client-facing role based in Mumbai. As an Associate Consultant, you will be an Engineer responsible for administering OpenShift setups for large Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) clients. Your core responsibilities include providing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and resolving L2 tickets related to customer issues. You will also be expected to provide robust solutions to customer problems and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless Day 2 support for the customer.
What You Will Do
- Implement automated, containerized cloud application platform solutions, focusing on critical infrastructure concerns like networking, storage, virtualization, security, logging, monitoring, high availability, and system resilience.
- Rapidly acquire proficiency in new technologies, including container orchestration, container registries, container build strategies, cloud storage, and software-defined networks.
Upon joining Red Hat, you will undergo an intensive training program covering Kubernetes and OpenShift technologies, alongside related DevOps and GitOps topics. Your skill set will evolve significantly during your first year, encompassing:
- Understanding of how to build production-ready container and virtualization platforms, seamlessly integrated with existing enterprise systems.
- Knowledge of how to deploy source code into running, scalable containers and virtual machines in an automated fashion at enterprise scale.
- Successful, collaborative delivery of customer requirements using Red Hat OpenShift.
- Knowledge of how a customer use case can be developed into a comprehensive project plan, aligning requirements with Red Hat’s technologies.
- Understanding of how Red Hat’s technologies can transform software delivery (DevOps/GitOps) practices at large organizations.
- Successfully implementing complex, large-scale container platform solutions in challenging customer environments.
- Helping peers learn DevOps/GitOps paired with container technologies.
- Contributing lessons learned, best practices, and how-tos to our internal and external communities of practice.
- Applying new technologies, frameworks, or methodologies to container platforms.
- Ensuring service reliability meets users’ needs, including internally critical and externally visible services.
- Utilizing software and systems engineering to design, build, and run large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems.
- Participating in an on-call rotation within a geographically distributed team to provide 24x7x365 production support, responding to urgent customer issues.
- Practicing sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
What You Will Bring
- Prior experience working directly with enterprise stakeholders on diverse development and deployment projects.
- Advanced knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform or underlying components like Kubernetes container solutions.
- Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Experience implementing system infrastructure and cloud solutions, including data storage, networking, monitoring, and security.
- Ability to effectively communicate the value, progress, and metrics of key projects to technical and business stakeholders.
- A strong aptitude for self-study, quick learning, and practical application of new ideas.
- Passion for open source, software, tooling, and automation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Willingness to travel regularly.
