Position Overview: Handyperson
This role in the Maintenance department reports to a Property Manager or Building Superintendent. The Handyperson is responsible for ensuring building and grounds are well maintained and safe.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor building and grounds for cleanliness and presentation.
- Perform minor painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other maintenance tasks using hand tools.
- Carry out grounds maintenance: mowing, trimming, cultivating, and snow/ice removal.
- Maintain and store supplies, tools, and equipment safely and orderly.
- Report major repair needs and emergency maintenance issues immediately.
Essential Job Functions
This role involves working both indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions and performing medium to heavy physical tasks, including lifting up to 100 lbs and frequent handling of items up to 50 lbs. Good eye-hand coordination is essential.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required)
- 1-2 years experience in maintenance or construction supervision
- Knowledge of janitorial procedures and use of hand and power tools
- ALC lead paint certification is a plus
