Job Overview - Handyperson

Reporting to the Property Manager or Building Superintendent in the Maintenance department, the Handyperson will ensure that buildings and grounds are well maintained and secure.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor building and grounds for neat presentation.
  • Perform minor painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other related maintenance tasks.
  • Follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Store supplies appropriately and maintain tools.
  • Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, cultivating flower beds, and snow/ice/debris removal.
  • Dispose of trash in designated areas.
  • Report major repairs and emergency issues immediately.
  • Adhere to all company health and safety procedures.
  • Participate in emergency on-call duties as assigned.
  • Handle other related duties as required.

Essential Job Functions

The candidate must be able to work in all weather conditions, handle medium to heavy physical tasks, and demonstrate good eye/hand coordination.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in maintenance or construction supervision is ideal.
  • Basic knowledge of janitorial procedures and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • ALC lead paint certification is a plus.
