Job Description

About the Portfolio Management Assistant Role at RBC

The Portfolio Management Assistant (PMA) is a crucial role focused on supporting the Investment Counsellor in managing private client portfolios, relationships, and meetings. This position primarily deals with pooled funds and is an integral part of a small team handling approximately 120 client relationships. It is not an asset selection or analysis role, but rather requires strong knowledge in tax, financial planning, and portfolio management to assist with various client-facing and operational tasks. The PMA will actively identify, investigate, and resolve client inquiries, providing recommendations for complex situations to the Investment Counsellor. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the construction of customized investment strategies and proposals, as well as implementing and monitoring action plans for new funds and portfolio allocations. The PMA will execute trades as directed by the Investment Counsellor and collaborate closely with the Private Client Associate on portfolio administration. Success in this role demands a self-directed individual with exceptional organizational, writing, and communication skills, adept at handling large volumes of information, strong interpersonal abilities, and critical thinking.
