Research Ethics and Governance Coordinator at Ramsay Health Care
We are seeking a Research Ethics and Governance Coordinator to assist with research ethics and governance operations, streamline approvals, and support cutting-edge research projects. This is a permanent full-time position located at the Ramsay National Research Unit, Head Office – St. Leonards, NSW.
The Opportunity
This role is a key part of the day-to-day research ethics and governance operations of the National Research Unit. It's an excellent opportunity for a research-interested individual to develop skills in research ethics and research governance administration within a complex healthcare organization.
Reporting to the Head of Research Impact & Enablement, the successful applicant will support the day-to-day research ethics and governance operations of the National Research Unit.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Provision of advice and guidance related to human research ethics and site-specific application requirements and modifications prior to committee review.
- Management of ethics and governance milestones, amendments, and reports.
- Safety events reporting.
- Operational support for Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) meetings and Research Governance Office functions.
This role is critical to the National Research Unit, actively working with the National Research team and the Ramsay Research and Development Network to ensure the smooth functioning of the ethics and governance area.
Additional key responsibilities include:
- Providing advice and support to researchers and Ramsay Research and Development Network staff regarding requirements for research ethics and research governance Site-Specific Applications prior to review.
- Supporting Senior Research Ethics and Governance Officers with the day-to-day business functions of the HRECs and the Research Governance Office.
- Liaising with external and internal stakeholders regarding ethics and governance applications in a timely manner.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of online resources to support stakeholders.
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of relevant policies and procedures, terms of reference, and other documentation required to support research governance processes within Ramsay Health Care.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring the following skills and experience:
- A tertiary qualification in health, science, research management, public administration, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a research support position.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively and work to deadlines.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities with a proactive, analytical, and process-oriented mindset.
- Commitment to the promotion of research integrity, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement in research governance practices.

Established in 2015, the Ramsay Hospital Research Foundation (RHRF) is a registered not-for-profit organization. Since commencing operations in 2017 with a core grant from the Paul Ramsay Foundation, RHRF has developed robust research programs focusing on mental health, health services, and rehabilitation research.
