About The Role

We are seeking a Staff Design Engineer - Design Systems who is passionate about improving collaboration between design and engineering teams. This is a ground-floor opportunity to empower teams to create better, consistent experiences across products by evolving our design system, front-end libraries, infrastructure, and documentation.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain and evolve Ramp’s cross-platform design system.
  • Improve design processes through detailed documentation and guidelines.
  • Work with product, engineering, and design teams to build internal tooling.
  • Champion user experience and accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate to create elegant, consistent component APIs.
  • Participate in daily team activities and help hire new talent.

What You Need

  • Minimum 8 years of tech/startup or digital product agency experience.
  • Strong grasp of Product Design software, preferably Figma.
  • Extraordinary visual design skills with a deep understanding of UX and UI.
  • Excellent front-end development skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (React preferred).
  • Experience with reusable component libraries and attention to design details in code.
  • Strong organizational skills and documentation proficiency.
  • Excellent communication bridging design and engineering.

Nice to Haves

  • Ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical peers.
  • Solid understanding of accessibility development practices.
