The Role
We are looking for a motivated and organised Junior Finance Operations Specialist to join our Finance team. This is a broad, hands-on role spanning Tax Compliance & Operations and Procurement Operations & Finance Support, making it an excellent opportunity for an early-career finance professional who wants meaningful exposure across critical finance functions.
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will support the tax compliance calendar, assist with filings and reconciliations across multiple jurisdictions, and simultaneously own the day-to-day management of our procurement tool (Precoro), vendor processes, and general finance operations. You will work cross-functionally with Accounting, Legal, Operations, and external advisors.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Operations
VAT & Indirect Tax
- Assist in the booking and reconciliation of tax accounts (VAT, WHT, and other taxes) in the ERP system.
- Support SII (Suministro Inmediato de Información) reporting and resolve discrepancies with accounting.
- Support VAT return preparation and filing for selected jurisdictions, working under supervision.
- Keep country-specific VAT rates up to date and monitor registration thresholds across Rakuten TV territories.
- Support VAT recovery processes, including M360 filings.
Withholding Tax & Statutory Reporting
- Assist with WHT filings and related annual reports (M111, M216, M190, M296).
- Prepare and file regulatory and statistical reports for INE, CNMC, and Banco de España as required.
Tax Operations & Documentation
- Track and maintain the tax compliance calendar, monitoring deadlines and flagging risks proactively.
- Gather and organise supporting documentation for external tax advisors and audit purposes.
- Maintain tax documentation including residency certificates, transfer pricing files, and other supporting materials.
- Liaise with the Accounting team to ensure tax-related entries are accurately reflected in the general ledger.
Procurement Operations & Finance Support
Precoro Tool Management
- Act as the day-to-day owner and internal administrator of the Precoro procurement platform.
- Manage purchase order (PO) creation, approval workflows, and vendor onboarding within Precoro.
- Ensure purchase requests are properly reviewed, approved, and matched to vendor invoices (3-way matching).
- Maintain and update supplier master data, ensuring accuracy and completeness in the system.
- Identify and drive improvements to procurement workflows, approval hierarchies, and system configuration.
Procurement Process & Controls
- Support the implementation and enforcement of procurement policies and internal controls across the organisation.
- Coordinate with department heads and budget owners to ensure purchases are aligned with approved budgets.
- Liaise with the Accounts Payable / Accounting team to ensure timely and accurate invoice processing and payment.
- Prepare procurement activity reports and spend analytics for Finance leadership on a regular basis.
- Support vendor negotiations, contract tracking, and renewal management in coordination with Legal and Operations.
Miscellaneous Finance Operations
- Assist with month-end close tasks including expense accruals, prepayment schedules, and balance sheet reconciliations related to procurement and operational spend.
- Support the preparation and review of employee expense reports and reimbursements in compliance with company policy.
- Contribute to finance process documentation, internal procedure guides, and policy updates.
- Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as requested by the Head of Finance.
- Provide general operational support to the Finance team during peak periods (audit, year-end, budgeting cycles).
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related field.
- Postgraduate studies or coursework in Taxation is a plus.
Experience
- 0–3 years of experience in a finance, tax, or accounting role; Big 4 or similar professional services background is a plus.
- Exposure to Spanish tax compliance (VAT, WHT) is preferred; international tax experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with procurement tools or ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or similar) is valued.
- Experience with Precoro or similar P2P (procure-to-pay) platforms is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data management).
- Comfortable working with ERP and financial systems; Microsoft Dynamics Business Central experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with Spanish regulatory reporting portals (AEAT, INE, Banco de España) is an advantage.
- Experience with procurement or approval workflow tools is welcome.
