Join Our Team as a Fabrication Manager

We're not just looking for a floor supervisor; we're seeking a tactical leader to bridge the gap between our drafting table and the field. The Fabrication Manager acts as the "Air Traffic Controller" of our shop, overseeing the entire flow of projects from initial shop drawings to products ready for jobsite installation. You will be the primary point of contact for the shop crew, a crucial partner to our Project Managers, and the guardian of our quality standards. This role fosters a "coach-player" relationship with the shop fabricators. It's perfect for someone who appreciates the logic of a perfect schedule but is also willing to jump on a saw or build a custom jig when the team needs an extra hand.

What a Typical Day Looks Like for a Fabrication Manager:

  • The Morning Kick-off: Arrive early to set the board. You'll review the latest drawings, check emails for field updates, and assign the crew to their stations the moment they walk in.
  • The Technical Bridge: You'll review full-size shop drawings, proactively catching dimensional errors before they reach the CNC, saw, or brake. You will also create or assist in generating cut lists as needed.
  • Problem Solving: When new materials, such as aluminum, arrive, you'll be responsible for designing the necessary jigs and educating the team on the "what" and "why" of the new process. You'll troubleshoot fabrication challenges and develop design solutions using existing shop equipment.
  • Workflow Logic: You will meticulously manage the coordination between the CNC, saw area, door department, and shipping/receiving to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure smooth project progression.
  • Quality Control & Shop Standards: You'll uphold and maintain fabrication quality standards through continuous oversight of all work in progress.
  • The Afternoon Reset: As the floor operations settle, you'll prepare for the next day by organizing materials, tracking job costs, and coordinating with Project Managers on upcoming deadlines.

Qualifications We Are Looking For:

  • Experience: 5-10 years in fabrication (Glazing, Metal, or Architectural Millwork preferred).
  • The "Eye": An expert ability to read shop drawings and instantly spot discrepancies.
  • Leadership: 10 years or more of experience managing crews, coupled with a natural knack for coaching less experienced fabricators.
  • Tech-Savvy: Demonstrates mechanical aptitude for shop equipment and the ability to track hours and materials digitally. Experience with Microsoft 360 and its applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) is essential.
  • Reliability: A firm commitment to a 7:00 AM start and the determination to stay late when necessary. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, tight project schedule environment is also crucial.

R & R Window Contractors, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to the pursuit of a diverse and inclusive work force. EEO/AAP.
