Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer with strong expertise in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) data structures and data flows. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in understanding, extracting, and transforming data originating from D365 Finance into Microsoft Fabric for analytics and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand data flow from D365 Finance & Operations including: Data entities, BYOD (Bring Your Own Database), Data management framework (DMF), OData endpoints.
- Design and implement data ingestion pipelines in Microsoft Fabric using: Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines (Data Factory in Fabric), Lakehouse architecture.
- Work closely with functional teams to understand Finance modules (GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, etc.) and business data mappings and transformations.
- Build and optimize data models in Fabric Lakehouse/Warehouse.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across the pipeline.
- Develop incremental load strategies and optimize performance.
- Collaborate with Power BI teams for downstream reporting and analytics.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric: Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Pipelines / Data Factory, Dataflows Gen2.
- Deep understanding of D365 Finance & Operations data architecture: Tables, entities, staging concepts, data export mechanisms (BYOD, Synapse Link, etc.).
- Experience in data extraction from D365 Finance using: OData APIs, Export to Data Lake, BYOD.
- Proficiency in: SQL, Data modeling, ETL/ELT design.
- Strong understanding of Azure ecosystem (preferred): Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse (nice to have).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Finance domain datasets (GL, AP, AR).
- Exposure to Power BI for data consumption.
- Knowledge of data governance and security in Fabric.
- Experience in performance tuning and large-scale data handling.
