About The Ads ML Team And Role
As a Machine Learning Engineer New Grad - Ads, Quora, you will join a small, high-impact engineering team rooted in continuous learning and improvement. We encourage big thinking and experimentation, with continuous deployment allowing for rapid iterations. Engineers focus on polished products and high-quality code, designing extensible and maintainable APIs and abstractions. Everyone on the engineering team significantly impacts our product and company.
Specifically, on the Ads ML team, you'll build deep learning and transformer-based model architectures for ad candidate retrieval and ranking. Your work includes developing sophisticated bidding algorithms and scalable ML systems for ad selection optimization. You will also leverage large language models for brand safety detection and ad quality assessment, ensuring integrity for advertisers and quality experiences for users.
Responsibilities
- Improve existing Ads Recommendation systems using your expertise.
- Identify new opportunities to apply Machine Learning to different parts of the Quora Ads Product.
- Work with other engineers to implement algorithms and systems efficiently.
- Take end-to-end ownership of Machine Learning systems, from data pipelines and training to real-time prediction engines.
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to be available for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's “coordination hours" (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time).
- A 2025 or Summer 2026 graduate with or pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong understanding of mathematical foundations of Machine Learning algorithms.
- Knowledge of Python or C++, or the ability to learn them quickly.
- A passion for learning and always improving yourself and the team around you.
Preferred Requirements
- Previous software engineering experience via an internship, work experience, or coding competition.
- Passion for Quora's mission and goals.

Quora is a privately held, "remote-first" company, offering this position remotely from multiple eligible countries. We value diversity and inclusivity, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds. Salary ranges for US candidates are $107,360 - $152,900 USD + equity + benefits. Canadian ranges vary by location.
