Role Overview

The Materials and Trims Library Manager is a full-time role responsible for centralizing and upgrading all materials and trims used across apparel and accessories. Your mission is to reduce variation, raise quality standards, and establish a permanent physical Materials Library Room in San Francisco that serves as the single source of truth.

Responsibilities

  • Audit & Assess: Review current materials and trims, flagging overuse, duplication, quality risks, and sourcing delays.
  • Standardize & Simplify: Set clear standards across categories focusing on durability, performance, and consistency.
  • Build the Library Room: Design and maintain a physical library in SF with organized swatches, labels, specs, and sourcing info.
  • Create the Digital Library: Develop and maintain a digital mirror with searchable visuals and vendor data.
  • Partner & Align: Collaborate with Design, Product Development, Tech, and Sourcing to meet aesthetic and functional goals.
  • Vendor Confirmations: Validate material specs, availability, lead times, and MOQs.
  • Govern & Maintain: Establish ownership, update protocols, and train teams to ensure consistent material usage.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in Materials Library management in apparel/accessories. Deep knowledge of fabrics, hardware, linings, threads, elastics, and labels. Proven record of building materials libraries from scratch, real-world production expertise, attention to detail, and strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Standing and walking throughout the shift
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs and use ladders
  • Frequent bending, twisting, or kneeling for moving objects
  • Occasional off-site work or travel for shoots

This role requires in-office presence 5 days per week.

Compensation

Pay range: $90,000—$130,000 USD, based on market indicators and personal qualifications.
