The Role
The Scientist III will join the R&D Field Triage group to investigate on-market product quality issues. The role emphasizes designing, conducting, and documenting experiments aimed at identifying failure modes and establishing root causes for clinical laboratory and transfusion medicine products.
Responsibilities
- Assess potential quality issues related to hardware/software, reagents, samples, and testing protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quality, customer support, and operations.
- Design and conduct laboratory studies to determine root causes.
- Analyze data using statistical and data analytical methods.
- Propose corrective actions and document findings in accordance with quality standards.
- Work in a biosafety level 2 laboratory maintaining cGLP practices.
Individual Requirements
Applicants should have an MS or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or a related field; B.S. with relevant experience may be considered. A minimum of 3 years of progressive work experience and skills in experimental design, analytical analysis, and basic statistics are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with clinical chemistry and immunohematology systems.
- Familiarity with statistical software and programming/scripting languages including SQL and MATLAB.
- Experience in problem-solving methodologies such as Six Sigma.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Key Interactions
Internally, you will work with the R&D Field Triage team, Development, Quality, Operations, and Global Service Organization. Externally, interactions will occur with development partners, suppliers, and customers.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The role is based on-site at the Rochester, NY facility and entails working in an office, laboratory, and manufacturing environment, including handling biological samples and potentially hazardous materials.
Salary Transparency
The salary range is $80,000 to $110,000, bonus eligible, based on education, experience, and other factors. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
