Platform Operations Engineer

Role Summary

The Platform Operations Engineer supports the operational reliability of infrastructure and automation systems that power QRT’s research and trading platforms. This role involves monitoring automated server build pipelines, troubleshooting issues, and gaining hands-on experience with production infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities

• Support operational reliability of core infrastructure
• Monitor automated server build pipelines and critical services
• Troubleshoot issues across infrastructure platforms
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers, developers, and senior engineers
• Develop expertise in platform engineering and site reliability

Required Skills

• Experience with Linux systems in technical/support roles
• Ability to read and reason about code, logs and automation logic
• Understanding of key infrastructure components (DNS, databases, monitoring tools)
• Exposure to observability concepts like metrics, logs, alerts
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and configuration-driven systems
• Knowledge of modern software engineering practices
• Strong hands-on problem-solving ability
• Motivation to learn and build real-world experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Scripting experience with Python or Golang
• Familiarity with Terraform and/or Ansible
• Experience with VMware, KVM, Nutanix, or Red Hat Virtualization (RHV)
• Experience managing AWS services such as EC2 and EKS
• Understanding of modern network topologies, configurations and network security devices
